Someone had said this to us a while back and now we have 3 boys, my husband shaves their heads regularly, as he does his. However, hearing that it could possibly increase their chances of going bald sooner would cause us to stop. My husband decided to grow his hair back and discoverd he had a bald spot, this is what we're trying to avoid! I've heard that male baldness comes from the mother's side, but I also want to know if there is ANY truth to this.
Will regular shaving of a man's/kids head, cause future baldness??
Head shaving does not cause baldness.
Male pattern baldness is genetic, passed along from the mother to the son.
Will regular shaving of a man's/kids head, cause future baldness??
No. The hair follicles lie below the skin surface, and are controlled by hormones. Neither of these things care what you do to your hair.

LOL.... no, it doesn't work that way. Most baldness is hereditary and usually from the mother's side. The boys will more than likely take after your father.

No. If anything, it will make hair stronger as more air gets to the follicles and they don't get clogged by grease.

No, there is no truth to it. And yes, baldness does come from the mother's side.

baldness can come from damage to the hair follical. shaving sometimes can cause damage to hair follicals, not usualy enough to give you bald spots unless done for a long period of time like over years. I shave my head all the time, my hairline has started to thin and move backwards. I also wears hats alot when I ws younger, that is said to cause it also, SO who knows.
Will regular shaving of a man's/kids head, cause future baldness??
No. I am a cosmetologist and it neither promotes baldness or vice versa. Hair is dead. The only living part is below the scalp. Psst. It's male pattern baldness. I see kids that go bald in high school. It happens. I fit them with toupees. Kidding- I put them in scalp therapy- seriously. I get paid to do this. It works if they do it often enough until no longer needed. And it actually comes from daddy's side. Most physical traits do.
