Have you ever been treated differently because of what you are mixed with?

I am half Mexican, but I look completely white because I have my mom's genes. My brother is the opposite of me. I have light skin, blonde hair and green eyes, while my brother has dark skin, black hair, and brown eyes. Kids at school are mean to me because of this saying how white I am. Whenever I tell them I am half Mexican, they tell me to shut up because I am white. I have met mixed hispanics like me that have less conections to their hispanic family than me, but are more popular becasue they look it unlike me. I sometimes was bullied because I am a "gringo". It hurts alot that people act this way towards me. I am jealous of my brother because he is treated just fine. What do I say to those people that do these things to me?

i have a brother who is half mexican also but is fair with hazel eyes and people don't think he mexican anyways just be happy with what you are and proud of all your races like me im about 5 races mixed into one they tease me about my chinese race and my chinky eyes but i don't let it bug me im proud of all my races!!like you should be!!

I had a similar problem in school (my mother's Scottish and my father is black) I'm very light and my brother is more of a tan complexion. I think ignorant people automatically assume that I won't have the same bias against me because I look white. You don't have to explain yourself to anyone, and some of them are just jealous. Go about your life and make something of yourself and no one can say anything to you. I did it (I'm a college graduate and I have a job I love) and so can you. People will always hate on others that are different and you're not going to be able to change your appearance to please them so focus on pleasing yourself!

Your question hits home to me. My 3 children are also white and Mexican. My oldest son looks completely white whereas my little ones look Hispanic and Asian!

My oldest has been harassed a bit because he's fair...He just cracks jokes like....You're just jealous that I can get Hispanic Scholarships and NOT get pulled over by the cops..etc.

You have to get a thicker skin.

You will grow into a very unique human. You have benfitted from the first hand knowledge of prejudice from your own kind. You will never believe that hispanics are not prejudice and the world is against them because they are another ethic group. Tell them thank you. They have done you a great favor. Don't feel jealous, be relieved that you are different.

Whatever you do, DO NOT let anyone define you, and DON'T get your sense of self-worth from what they say about you.

In this life, there are always going to be people that like you, and people that won't. Be smart enough to know which ones to associate with.

Mature people look at more than just what is on the outside, or at a person's lineage. They sound shallow, so don't listen to them.

TO THE LADY ABOVE ABOUT CHINESE, CHINESE IS NOT A RACE EITHER IF YOU BEEN TO CHINA CHINA HAS ITS OWN ETHNIC GROUPS BUT IN AMERICA THEY ARE CLASSIFIED AS ASIAN. CHINESE ARE NOT THE ONLY ONES WHO HAVE SLANTED EYES SOME ETHNIC AFRICAN PEOPLE HAVE SLANTED EYES AS WELL.

P.S THERE IS NO HISPANIC ;LOOK DAMN AMERICANS IF ANYBODY CAN PROOVE THERE IS A HISPANIC/LATINO LOOK EMAIL ME AND THAT ALSO MEANS THAT EUROPEANS(from east to west north south) IN LATIN AMERICA AND AFRICAN people are not hispanic/latino correct
