She will be getting about a foot cut off. If she donates it, which is better Wigs for Kids or Locks of Love? And Why? Also, are there others to consider?

I've donated hair 4 times to Locks of Love. It takes me about 18 - 20 months to grow the 12 - 16" I donate each time. I don't know much about Wigs for Kids.

L.O.L. is mostly kids with alopecia (not cancer as commonly thought). Please remember that sometimes the hair is used for wigs directly, but it may also be sold at "fair market price" in order to raise funds for costs associated with making the wigs. It takes many ponytails to make one wig. I have enjoyed the experience every time, the hair stylists have always been quite kind an my cut is always free. But please remember to tip the hairstylist just as you would if you were paying for the cut. Some of the hairstylists will add their tip as a donation to L.O.L.

Don't forget to take before and after pictures. I usually also take a picture of the ponytail that has been cut off next to a ruler.

There may be people you tell you not to donate or that it is a scam or a rip off. I choose not to believe them based on research I have done on the company. I donate mine in memory of a friend who died while I was in college and for a close friend's sister who passed from cancer 7 years ago.

i'm not sure but i heard locks of love gives the hair to kids for free but wigs for kids make you pay for the wigs-not sure if thats true but id google the names of the organizations and the first link should be a link to their websites

I'm thinking of donating mine to Locks Of Love... they both give the wigs to the kids for free. LOL only requires 10 inches while the other requires 12. If I took 10" off now, I wouldn't have any hair left and I don't know if I have the patience to keep my hair until I have enough to donate 12".

Most people donate to Locks of Love, but both places are good becausr both are for the same purpose. But I'm just telling you that I think it's great what your doing but plzzz make sure this is what your daugter for sure wants, and make sure the place that cuts it off styles it good, because I know tons of girls that have gotten so depressed and cryed so much because they got all of their hair cut off! I only have heard Wigs for Kids which the hair goes to make wigs for kids with cancer If you are donating a childs hair that would probably be best
